Sacramento

The last time we saw my sister Janet and her family was at Thanksgiving four years ago, when we announced we were expecting another Zavocki, Genna.  In the space of four years, we had two more kids, and they had one more!  What a sweet opportunity to come visit them for a whole week!  We had so much fun together!  The cousins couldn't have gotten along more grandly.  The big girls stayed over at my sister's house nearly the whole time we were in Sacramento while the little ones and Steve and I drove home to CalExpo Fairground and RV Park.  It's nothing but a big gravel parking lot, but a reasonably priced, safe place to stay about 15 miles from my sister's.

Grant turned 15 while we were there.

The girls played a lot of legos in Emma's room.

We went to church with them our first full day together, followed by a birthday party for Curtis and Amy Bush's son.   Curtis and Amy are good friends of Mike and Janet, and Steve knows them from college.  It was really nice to get to see them and go to a party.  It's been a while since we've been to a social gathering!

During our stay, the kids played games nearly nonstop: Apples to Apples, Sumoku, Bananagrams, Killer Wink, Pit, Bull aka Liar, Liar, and Charades.  They also played hide'n seek and tag in the dark.  They made awesome memories to last a lifetime; the time we had together was truly priceless!  Janet patiently listened to me try to get as many words out as possible; I miss girl time!  She also shared her passion for cloth diapers with me, providing me with diaper service for the week; Jake got the chance to model some very cute ones, and I didn't have to deal with any of the laundry!
We played charades. Janet had to act out a caveman; it was hilarious!
We also had an early Thanksgiving together. Janet & Mike grilled an amazing turkey! Other items on the menu: shoepeg corn casserole, napa cabbage salad with toasted almonds, cornbread dressing, mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes, cranberries, homemade rolls, pumpkin pie with homemade whipped cream, and apple-cranberry crisp. It was all sooo yummy! Thanks so much guys for sharing an early Thanksgiving with us!!
